Monday night's episode of Dallas was apparently the last to feature Larry Hagman, who had been reprising his scheming role of oil tycoon J.R. Ewing on the TNT reboot before he passed away last November.
Hagman filmed five episodes of the drama's current season before his death. TNT head of programming Michael Wright had promised a "fitting farewell" for the beloved actor and the character that viewers loved to hate.
Hagman's final episode channeled the highly-rated "Who Shot J.R.?" cliffhanger from the show's original run: Ewing apparently went out with a bang, shot off-camera while chatting with his son on the phone.
Hagman himself barely appeared in the episode -- which was explained by his being in Abu Dhabi negotiating oil contracts -- and appeared frail in the moments he appeared onscreen.
Next week's episode will deal with J.R.'s funeral, which Wright has said will be part of a "storyline that...we believe would've made Larry very happy."
